5 minutes with...The Hub Church

Winner of Most Engaging Small Church Website, Daniel Drew tells us why we shouldn't follow the rules when it comes to launching a project idea and why he's passionate about people who don't go to Church.

What inspired you to create the website for The Hub Church?

As a church we have met in many different venues, pub, theatres etc. With this in mind we don’t have a regular home. Our website has become that. We are also passionate about people who don’t go to church and therefore aim our website at this demographic.

What was your first reaction when you heard you won the award for Most Engaging Small Church Website?

Very surprised, honoured and humbled. I couldn’t believe it! I was really pleased and thankful to our media co-coordinator for his hard work over the last few years.

What does winning this award mean to you?

Honestly the prize was hugely generous and particularly useful, £1000 is a lot of money for a small church. We have recently launched a new service and the income has been hugely beneficial in enabling us to meet a new demographic of people.

How has winning the category impacted your work?

It has encouraged us to continue to work hard on our media presence and continue to play our part in promoting a positive message around church in the UK.

What are your plans for The Hub Church in 2017?

We plan to rethink our services, continue to run alpha, and continue to grow our new community.

How important is the Premier Digital Conference in today’s modern Christian community?

To be honest I hadn’t heard about it before we were nominated, but I thought it was great and amazing, a great event very professional and engaging. I would definitely recommend it to others.

What advice would you give to Christians with a digital project or idea that they want to launch?

Go for it, be creative and don’t follow the rules and be like everyone else. Prayerfully think about who you are trying to engage and don’t compromise on the message, but be very flexible on the way in which you communicate for maximum impact.

How can people get in touch with you?

Our website, hehe, www.thehubchurch.co.uk
